Synopsis from Goodreads:

This is a stand alone novel that is an adult spin-off of the Lux Series. You do not need to read a Lux book to read Obsession and vice versa.

He’s arrogant, domineering, and... To. Die. For.

Hunter is a ruthless killer. And the Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn’t chafe too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job. That is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before

: protect a human from his mortal enemy.

Serena Cross didn’t believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into something... unnatural. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.

Hunter stirs Serena’s temper and her lust despite their differences. Soon he’s doing the unthinkable—breaking the rules he’s lived by, going against the government to keep Serena safe. But are the aliens and the government the biggest threats to Serena’s life… or is it Hunter?

My Review:

Another J.L.A. book! Get ready for the greatest experience of your life. And as you can see by the book cover, this is an adult book (you have been warned). And my oh my are you in for a real treat. And if you've read the Lux series, this is the basically the other side of the story because you get to see the point of view from an Arum. And the Lux series was about the Luxens. When you read Obsession, you'll question what is good and what is evil. Because The Lux Series left you with the impression that Arum are evil and stone cold killers but that is not precisely true. Arum may have been born to control the Luxen but like just like any race, there will always be good and evil.

It starts off with Serena's friend Mel telling her that she saw a man she has been seeing for weeks turn into light. And she's freaked out. Of course, Serena doesn't believe her until she sees her friend get blown up. And that's when the DOD (Department of Defense) get involved. They know that she knows something because of her friend. They send Hunter, who the DOD has on a leash but he enjoys what he does anyway. He's to protect Serena and find out exactly what she knows. But taking care of humans is not on his job description, especially not women. He's with women for one reason only. And he feeds off humans for power. So in a way, he's like a succubus.

Hunter was  is a bucket full of holy hotness. He's such a man but he's so arrogant, cocky, and confident. Did I mention he's a man?!! You'll faint when you read about him. He was very thrilling and you'll fall in love like you've never have. Hunter is just WOW, there's no other way to describe him.

Serena is just as awesome. I love how she stands up to Hunter especially when she starts to throw things at him. She doesn't allow Hunter to control her. I would have just cowered away. She brought out Hunter's good side. She was his light side. And they were a perfect match for each other because she won't put up with his attitude.

Hunter became attracted to Serena, he wanted her and not just for one night. He's possessive about her but in a protective-like-way. She is like a challenge for him. And as the story goes on, he starts to care for her. But he doesn't do feelings. But as he shows her who he truly is, he's surprised to see that she's not afraid of him. And that just makes him want her more. She wants him just as much he wants her. And they can't avoid the inevitable since they are in the same house. They made such a good couple, bringing out the good in each other. I ship them so hard. Obsession really brought out my inner fan-girling.

Obsession will make you obsess. I loved Hunter, the neverending, mind-blowing romance, the addictive action, and the switching of sides from a Luxen to an Arum. I recommend this all the Lux fans out there and any sci-fi lovers out there. Go get this book, you really need it in your life.

5 Stars: Blew My Mind!! :D :D
