Book Blogger Love-A-Thon Questionnaire

I'm really excited to be taking part in this Love-A-Thon. It's my first time and I'm super excited to meet new bloggers!!

What’s your name?

Karina Romano and not Italian. I've been asked that a lot and it's kind of cool though.

Where in the world are you blogging from?

I am blogging from Chicago where Divergents live <3

How did you get into blogging in the first place?

I started off reading reviews on Goodreads and most of them linked back to blogs. And that's where it peaked my interest in starting my own.

How did you come up with your blog name?

I honestly don't remember. It was most likely pure randomness and I'm really itching to change it to something else. But it's hard to do it at this point since I've been blogging for a year now and people know me by this blog name.

What genre do you read and review the most on your blog?

I read YA Paranormal Romance the most but I'm trying to get into contemporaries this year. I'm really into High Fantasies like the Throne of Glass series though.

What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews?

I part-take in on the weekly memes: Waiting On Wednesday, Stacking The Shelves. I occasionally do cover reveals and blog tours. Last year I used to do a ton of book blitzes but I'm trying to steer away from that to try to do more original posts. And I've been planning on doing TV show recaps on some new shows that I watch like The Walking Dead, The 100, and Supernatural. I also post about some of my favorite book boyfriends.

Best blogging experience so far?

I got to go to my first book event this year! ALA MIDWINTER!! It was honestly the greatest thing ever. I talked to a lot of publicists and loved being surrounded by my people. And seeing so many books!! Here is my recap if you're interested: click here. I do warn you, there is a lot of gushing :)

Favorite thing about the blogging community?

Talking to bloggers and authors about books!!

Name the 5 books you’re most excited for this 2015!

1. Sweet Temptation by Wendy Higgins
2. Every Last Breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout
3. Scorched by Jennifer L. Armentrout
4. Fall With Me by Jennifer L. Armentrout
5. Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Mass
(Still have to read Heir of Fire, but still excited!!)

What’s an underrated book or series that you think everyone should read?

The Sweet Trilogy and See Me. Both by Wendy Higgins. I love everything that she writes and See Me is such a cute read about an arranged marriage that flourishes into love. And I fell instantly in love with it.

Which book boy or girl would be your book BFF?

I'm assuming it's a book character... It would have to be Layla from The Dark Elements series or Luc from The Lux series. I just love their spunkiness and they are some of my favorite characters ever!!

Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies or interests?

Blogging!! Does that count? 'Cause I'm counting it. And I also love anime and watching my favorite shows.

Apart from book shopping, what else do you like shopping for?

I love shopping for candles!! I honestly love opening the lid and smelling them all. I'm not too big on clothes shopping. I used to but not anymore. And I rarely walk into a bookstore 'cause that's too dangerous. I mostly order all my books on Amazon.

Pick out either a book you want turned into a film/TV show, or a film/TV show you want turned into a book.

This is really hard but I think I would very much enjoy seeing The Arcana Chronicle series be turned into a TV. Not movie 'cause it's more riskier and if it's a TV, we have more on-screen time with our favorite characters. I'd die to see Jack and Death and see who they would be portrayed by!!

Thank you for stopping by!!

  1. I've been wanting to change my blog name too haha. But I won't actually do it, especially after paying a pretty penny for my amazing blog re-design.
I like fantasy as well! I'm trying to read more contemporary romance though, and I've found some great ones. Namely Stephanie Perkins' Anna and the French Kiss series. It's so classic.
    Spread the love <3

  2. YAY FOR THE THRONE OF GLASS LOVE! You should most definitely read Heir of Fire - it's incredible. And it's great you were able to attend ALAMW! I want to attend an ALA event at some point in the future, maybe in 2016. And candles are amaaaaazing.

    Thanks for joining the Love-a-Thon!

Thank you so much for commenting! It really makes me happy knowing that people actually read my posts and that I'm not talking to myself. I will always try to respond to comments when I can or return the favor by commenting on your blog if you have one :)

As of August 2015, A Reader Under The Sea is an award-free blog. I appreciate it that you want to award me with something :)

Now this is a feature that just speaks to me especially since I mostly read books by marginalized authors. And it's all I want to ...
