Bryn Aven has always longed to be a part of the Kanin world.
Though she has no social status because she’s a half-breed, she refuses to give up on her dream of serving the kingdom she loves. It’s a dream that brings her to a whole new realm . . . the glittering palace of the Skojare.
The Skojare people need protection from the same brutal rival who’s been threatening the Kanin, and, being half Skojare herself, it’s a chance for Bryn to learn more about her heritage. Her boss Ridley Dresden is overseeing her mission and wants to help. He’s always been her most trusted friend—but as their undeniable attraction heats up, he becomes a distraction she can’t afford.
Brynn is about to discover that the Skojare world is full of secrets, and as she’s drawn in deeper and deeper, she doesn’t know who to trust. As she gets closer to Ridley, she realizes she may not even be able to trust her own heart.

*I received an advance reader's copy from the publisher in an exchange for an honest review.*

The way the first book left off, I was really excited to jump right into the second. And I did enjoy the characters once again. But I just didn't really enjoy the story as much as I did the first, sadly.

The pacing of the plot just felt very slow in the first half. In fact, I don't feel like much happened. And the romance was straight up fast. I thought in the first book it was a good pacing. But this just went quick and nothing happened in the romance. But then out of nowhere the romance is taken to a new level. I don't really want to say what happened but you can imagine. And then came the whole "it can't happen again."

And something that annoyed me were the poor decisions that some characters made. Not very good ones.

The beginning of the book starts off with Bryn and Riley trying to find the Skojare queen that's been missing. And Bryn and Riley dealing with their feelings for one another. And Bryn confesses that it was actually Victor that attacked her and not Konstantin. And things change.

I really did love the wedding scene. And there was a certain death that made me have feels. But I was debating on whether it was necessary or not. And the ending just leaves off as a cliffhanger because Bryn runs into a certain someone.

Even though the Ice Kissed didn't deliver like Frostfire, I will still read the last book because I am still interested in the world and the characters. I obviously want to know how it all will end. And what the deal is with Konstantin.
