Bryn Aven is an outcast among the Kanin, the most powerful of the troll tribes.

Set apart by her heritage and her past, Bryn is a tracker who's determined to become a respected part of her world. She has just one goal: become a member of the elite King’s Guard to protect the royal family. She's not going to let anything stand in her way, not even a forbidden romance with her boss Ridley Dresden.
But all her plans for the future are put on hold when Konstantin– a fallen hero she
once loved – begins kidnapping changelings. Bryn is sent in to help stop him, but will she lose her heart in the process?

My Review

When I had heard that Amanda Hocking was going to have a series that takes place in the same world as her Trylle trilogy, I was immensely happy!!! I was even more excited that I got to have a chance to read this early on before it's release.

You don't have to read any of Hocking's other books to read Frostfire! The Trylle trilogy is set in the same world as the Kanin Chronicles, but the Kanin Chronicles features a different tribe of trolls (Kanin), a different conflict, and different (new) characters. And the author does an amazing job of re-introducing the world to those who might not be familiar with it.

With that being said, I really enjoyed meeting our heroine, Bryn Aven, a half breed. Because her mother came from the Skojare tribe, she has blond hair, blue eyes, and pale skin. She's not fully Kanin and she doesn't have any of the abilities. This sets her apart from everybody and it's made her life complicated since she wants to be a part of the elite guard who protect the king and queen.

She's a tracker and she's had to work harder than anyone else to be on the top of the best. Without the abilities that every troll has, it's more harder for her to have gained the title of tracker. And she's made it perfectly clear that her job is her top priority.

Then we have Ridley Dresden, who is a retired tracker and in charge of other trackers. He was described as a guy who used to be very much of a player. But he's tired of that and wants a new change. He's also a bucket of hot sauce. He's so yummy!! You bet I love him. He's my new book boyfriend.

The only thing I didn't love about this book is the ending, it felt like it was cut abruptly. It just felt like it was all of a sudden. And I felt like something was missing from it. I would have preferred that there was some sort of cliffhanger to get me all pumped for the second book. I'll still be reading it but still.

I also want to give props to the cover designer. That cover is absolutely stunning!!!
Overall, Frostfire was very well written, especially the world building. And I especially loved how the romance was, it wasn't rushed and not too slow either. It had everything that it just drew me in. And I didn't want to put it down, it was super hard when I had to!

If you read the Trylle series, I recommend that you read this too. I think Frostfire is even more spectacular. Amanda Hocking just keeps getting better and better!!
5 Stars: Absolutely Fantastic!!
